Total Pool Care officially formed in April of 2008, however our experience far exceeds our time in business. Total Pool Care’s owner, Michael McBride, moved to the North Houston area in February of 1994. On his first day of work, he was handed a shovel and told to “dig here”. From then on, Michael’s superb work ethic unprecedented drive showed in every facet of his conduct.
From the time Michael was handed that shovel, he has managed to create one of the most well-known and well respected pool servicing companies in North Houston; Total Pool Care.
Total Pool Care employs 14 pool cleaners, each who service 50 pools per week; four repair technicians, three office administrators and three construction superintendents. Although Total Pool Care services 700 weekly clients and 500 others who use us for repairs, we still manage to keep a very personal and connected relationship with all of our clients.
We hold our team to the highest standards, and make sure that our professional cleaning services are visible in the quality and condition of your pool. Every staff member must follow a rigid series of steps when cleaning your pool, and they will provide you with a full checklist of all services preformed when they were at your home. You'll know what happened, and when it is safe to swim. Take a look at our approach:
Pollen, blooms, wind-blown bark mulch, spring flowers, left-over leaves, and fresh grass clippings can create quite a challenging environment for pool cleaners. Usually, rising water temperatures also coincide with this spring mess. Algae blooms can quickly become unsightly and out of control. Total Pool Care takes a proactive approach with timely filter services and preemptive algaecide applications.
Swim load and water loss are important factors to consider come the Summer season. Extra attention should be given to the water level in your pool.
Intense heat can cause pools in our area to lose about 1/8” of water per day. Also, toys, flippers, goggles, water guns, and other items left floating in the pool can block water from flowing into the skimmer. Any of these events or a lack of adequate water will result in your pool motor becoming very hot. This will likely damage the thread sealant on your plumbing fittings and possibly cause the motor to fail. We will always add water when needed, but a combined effort is our best chance of getting the most life out of your pool's pump.
Swim load is the amount of swimmers in a given week. If one person swims every day, this number is 7. A swim load of 15 is average, 50 is high. Pools with high levels of swimmers will require more sanitation and filtration. The system will need to run longer and splash out will cause water loss.
Falling leaves are the biggest offender in Autumn. A wide variety of native trees in the Woodlands and the consistent arrival of breezy cold fronts combine to wreak havoc from October to January. The sheer volume of this foliage can block water from flowing into the skimmers if not checked often. The amount of debris can lead to ineffective filtration and pump damage. The state of each skimmer basket and pump pot basket should be checked every week as well.
Dry winds evaporate water; even though the summer months have passed the water level of your pool should be watched carefully.
Most pools will have some type of freeze protection; we will ensure the proper operation of each type during the first cold snap. Every heater has a ventilation system that should be cleared of debris regularly. Total Pool Care will start your heater once a month as part of a comprehensive equipment checklist designed to reduce costly and avoidable repairs.
Not only is it important to keep your pool clean and in proper working order, it is imperative to continually check all aspects of your system's operational status. We thoroughly examine every aspect of your pool's performance. This not only stops unnecessary breakdowns, but also increases the life of your system's components.
